These are the remains of an extinct marine reptile that lived during the Mesozoic era. They were around for roughly 140 million years and had fish-like characteristics such as a streamlined body and tail fins, as well as four flipper-like limbs. They also had a crocodile-like head with sharp teeth and a long snout. Ichthyosaur fossils have been found all over the world and can provide insight into the evolution of marine life during the Mesozoic era. This is a large fossil plate with three different Ichthyosaur vertebrae inlayed into the natural matrix found on the English cliffs alongside these ancient animals.
