Gerastos tuberculatus is a species of trilobite, an extinct marine arthropod that lived during the Cambrian period. It is characterized by a large, convex headshield, and a long, flexible body comprised of three thoracic segments and a slender tail shield. It was known to inhabit shallow, near-shore environments, and is thought to have been a scavenger that fed on algae and other small organisms. This piece was placed on a nice display to easily examine all characteristics of the ancient animal.
